SHREVEPORT, La. – Authorities have identified the woman who lost her life in a tragic domestic incident in west-central Shreveport over the weekend. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 27-year-old Kalisia Franklin, who was fatally injured during a confrontation at a residence in the 3100 block of DeSoto Street in the Ingleside neighborhood.

The incident unfolded on the morning of Saturday, September 6, 2025, when Shreveport police were called to the home just before 7:30 a.m. Responding officers and emergency medical personnel found Franklin suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was quickly transported to Willis-Knighton Medical Center on Greenwood Road, where doctors worked tirelessly to save her. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at 1:03 p.m. that same day.

Officials have not yet released details regarding the circumstances that led to the violence, but investigators have confirmed that it is being handled as a domestic-related homicide. Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit spent much of Saturday collecting evidence, speaking with witnesses, and canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance footage that may provide clarity about what occurred inside the residence.

This latest killing marks the 26th confirmed homicide in Shreveport in 2025, and the 31st overall in Caddo Parish this year—statistics that underscore the troubling rise in violent incidents across the region. Community leaders and residents of the Ingleside neighborhood have expressed concern over the ongoing violence, calling for both accountability and greater efforts to prevent domestic disputes from escalating into tragedies.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of Franklin’s death. Results are expected to assist investigators in building their case as they continue to piece together the events leading up to the fatal encounter.

Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist detectives in their efforts. “Every tip helps, no matter how small,” a Shreveport Police spokesperson said. “The community’s cooperation is critical in bringing justice to victims and their families.”

For now, loved ones of Kalisia Franklin are left grappling with grief as they mourn a young woman whose life was cut short. She is remembered as a vibrant and caring individual who deserved far more years than she was given.

The investigation remains active, with further updates expected as detectives move forward with their inquiries.
