SMYRNA, Del. – Delaware State Police have released the identity of the motorcyclist who lost his life in a tragic crash early Friday morning near Smyrna. Authorities confirmed that the victim was 59-year-old Joseph Laclair of Clayton, a longtime Delaware resident.
The fatal crash occurred during the early hours of Friday, when troopers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. According to preliminary investigations, Laclair was traveling along the roadway when he lost control of his motorcycle. The vehicle left the travel lane and struck a roadside object, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. Despite immediate emergency response, Laclair was pronounced dead at the scene.
