Indianapolis Shooting Leaves One Person Dead on City’s Northeast Side

INDIANAPOLIS — A late-night shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis has left one person dead, marking yet another violent incident that has shaken the community.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Delmont Drive, just off North Mitthoefer Road, shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 6. Authorities received reports of gunfire in the residential neighborhood and arrived at the scene at approximately 10:55 p.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered an individual suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

IMPD confirmed that the case is being investigated as a homicide. At this time, investigators have not disclosed any information about potential suspects or motives, nor have they confirmed if any arrests have been made in connection with the deadly shooting.
