Family Identified in Rolling Hills Murder-Suicide That Left Three Dead
ROLLING HILLS, Calif. — Authorities have identified the three family members who were found dead inside a Rolling Hills home earlier this week in what investigators have determined to be a murder-suicide.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victims were identified as 69-year-old Myung Chun, 40-year-old Christine Chun, and 70-year-old She Chun. All three sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
The grim discovery was made when deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home in the exclusive gated community of Rolling Hills. Deputies were called to conduct a welfare check after relatives and neighbors expressed concern. Upon entering the residence, they found the three victims inside.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives later confirmed that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, though officials have not publicly disclosed who among the deceased was believed to be the shooter. Investigators also did not say what may have led to the violence, though they are working to establish a timeline of events and a possible motive.
Neighbors described the family as quiet and private, saying the tragedy has shocked the otherwise serene community known for its equestrian trails, sprawling estates, and low crime rate.
“This is not something you ever expect to happen here,” said one longtime Rolling Hills resident. “It’s heartbreaking to think about what this family must have been going through.”
The case highlights the often-hidden struggles behind domestic violence and family disputes, which can escalate into acts of extreme violence even in affluent and close-knit neighborhoods.
Counselors and victim advocates are being made available to extended family members as they grapple with the devastating loss of three loved ones.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau continues to investigate, working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office to piece together the circumstances leading up to the deaths. Officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
For now, Rolling Hills residents are left reeling as the community mourns the deaths of Myung, Christine, and She Chun, a family whose lives ended in tragedy within the walls of their own home.
