Authorities Identify Three Victims in Fatal Lake Hamilton Boating Accident
LAKE HAMILTON, Ark. — Authorities have released the names of the three men who tragically lost their lives in a fatal boating accident on Lake Hamilton, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The victims have been identified as Andrew Eason, 36, of Mabelvale; Justin Hall, 50, of Hot Springs; and Edis Miller, 44, of Hot Springs.
The accident occurred late Saturday evening when emergency crews received reports of a boat in distress near a popular recreation area of the lake. Witnesses said the vessel appeared to lose control before overturning, throwing all occupants into the water. Despite swift rescue efforts by nearby boaters and first responders, the three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Divers with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas Game and Fish officers spent several hours recovering the victims and securing the boat for inspection. Officials have not released details about what may have caused the accident, but they confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Factors under review include speed, possible mechanical failure, and whether weather or water conditions played a role.
Lake Hamilton, located near Hot Springs, is one of Arkansas’ busiest lakes, especially during summer weekends. Local residents say the tragedy has shaken the community, as many people know each other in the close-knit area.
Friends and family members of the victims have begun sharing memories of their loved ones. Eason, of Mabelvale, was remembered as a dedicated father and hardworking professional. Hall, a longtime Hot Springs resident, was described as a loyal friend with a passion for the outdoors. Miller, also of Hot Springs, was recalled as a family man who enjoyed spending time on the lake he loved.
“This is an incredible loss for three families and for our entire community,” said one local official. “Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved these men.”
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has urged boaters to use extra caution during the busy boating season, reminding the public of the importance of wearing life jackets, staying aware of surroundings, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained before heading out on the water.
Funeral arrangements for the victims are expected to be announced in the coming days. Meanwhile, community members are planning a candlelight vigil at Lake Hamilton to honor the lives of Eason, Hall, and Miller.
