Chicago Heights, IL — Mass Shooting Investigation
In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 30, 2025, tragedy struck near Lincoln Highway & Wilson in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Police confirm that five people were shot, and one person has died following a violent altercation that escalated into gunfire.
According to the Chicago Heights Police Department, officers were dispatched just after 4:00 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple people shot in the area. When authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews rushed all four individuals to nearby hospitals, where one was tragically pronounced dead.
A fifth gunshot victim later arrived at a local hospital after being dropped off by a private vehicle. At this time, officials have confirmed that two of the surviving victims remain in critical condition, while the others are being treated for their injuries.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force has been called in to assist with the investigation. Detectives are actively gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to determine what led up to the deadly exchange of gunfire. The ages and identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending family notification.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, cell phone video, or eyewitness accounts to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
