Cincinnati Police Arrest Woman in Fatal Shooting of Ex-Girlfriend on Millvale Court
CINCINNATI, Ohio — A tragic shooting on the city’s west side has left one woman dead and another facing a murder charge after a violent dispute turned deadly Sunday afternoon.
According to the Cincinnati Police Department, officers responded around 4 p.m. on August 31, 2025, to reports of a shooting in the 2000 block of Millvale Court. Upon arrival, officers located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Taralynn Bower, who police say was unarmed at the time of the incident. Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between Bower and her ex-girlfriend, later identified as 25-year-old Marshee Luther.
Authorities allege that during the argument, Luther pulled a firearm and fatally shot Bower. Detectives worked swiftly to identify and locate the suspect, leading to Luther’s arrest the following day. On September 1, she was formally charged with murder.
Luther made her first court appearance before Hamilton County Municipal Judge Samantha Silverstein, who ordered her held on no bond. She remains in custody at the Hamilton County Justice Center. Her next hearing is scheduled for September 4 at 9 a.m., where the court will determine whether she will continue to be held without bond pending trial.
The fatal shooting has left family, friends, and the Millvale Court community grieving the loss of Bower, described by those close to her as a vibrant young woman whose life was cut short in an act of senseless violence. Community members have expressed both sorrow and concern about domestic violence and the deadly consequences of disputes escalating to gunfire.
Cincinnati police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case and are urging anyone with additional information to contact the homicide unit at 513-352-3542. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
The tragedy underscores the ongoing concerns around gun violence and domestic disputes in Hamilton County, as advocates call for greater awareness, prevention, and support for those caught in cycles of conflict.
