CPD Charges Two with Attempted Murder in 2800 Block Market Street Shooting
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has arrested two suspects—a teenager and a young adult—in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 28, 2025, in the 2800 block of Market Street.
Incident Details
At approximately 8:56 a.m., CPD officers responded to reports of a person shot in the area. When they arrived, they discovered a wrecked vehicle nearby and observed two males walking away from the scene.
Not long after, CPD was alerted that a 15-year-old girl had arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators determined that the wounded teen had been a passenger in another vehicle targeted in the shooting.
The driver of that vehicle, a 38-year-old woman, was not injured.
Suspects Identified and Charges Filed
Investigators believe the suspects had been traveling in the wrecked vehicle before they opened fire on the victim’s car, striking the teenage passenger.

Jalijuan Haggard, 18, has been charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

A 16-year-old male, whose name has not been released due to his age, faces the same charges and is being held at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities emphasized that this remains an active investigation and that the current information is preliminary and subject to change as more evidence is reviewed.
