Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 6 in Tillamook County
TILLAMOOK COUNTY, Ore. (September 10, 2025) – The Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday morning, September 9, 2025, on Highway 6 near milepost 30 in Tillamook County.
According to the preliminary investigation, the crash happened at approximately 8:25 a.m. when a white Freightliner semi-truck, operated by 64-year-old Scott Lee Gotchall of Portland, was traveling eastbound on Highway 6. For reasons still under investigation, a pedestrian—identified as 25-year-old Jaime Cristobal Aguilar Herrera of Beaverton—entered the lane of travel and was struck by the semi-truck.
Emergency personnel responded immediately, but Aguilar Herrera was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet determined why the pedestrian entered the roadway, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The truck driver, Gotchall, was not injured in the incident.
The crash resulted in significant traffic delays, as the highway was closed and impacted for approximately 3.5 hours while law enforcement conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances leading to the tragic event, and additional details may be released as the investigation develops.
