Homicide Investigation Underway in Merigold
The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Bayou Road in Merigold.
Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a male subject lying on the side of the roadway. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Jacoby Broadway of Renova. Preliminary findings indicate that Broadway sustained multiple gunshot wounds. At this time, investigators are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and to identify those responsible.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance. Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or who may have information related to this crime is urged to come forward.
