Iowa State Patrol Identifies Victims in Fatal Wright County UTV Crash
WRIGHT COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities have released the names of the two young adults involved in a tragic utility terrain vehicle (UTV) crash that occurred early Saturday morning along the Boone River in Wright County.
The Iowa State Patrol confirmed that the passenger who was killed in the accident was 20-year-old McKenna Mae Woodbeck of Huxley. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Levi Edward Rasmussen of Goldfield, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported by Eagle Grove Ambulance to Iowa Specialty Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not yet been made public.
Details of the Crash
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, near Highway 3 along the Boone River. According to investigators, the pair had been traveling in a John Deere Gator UTV near the riverbank when Rasmussen misjudged the distance. The vehicle reportedly slid off the embankment and dropped a significant distance into the water below.
Both occupants were thrown from the UTV as it overturned. Tragically, Woodbeck became trapped underneath the vehicle and died at the scene despite emergency response efforts. Rasmussen, though injured, managed to survive the impact and was rescued by first responders.
