Man Accused of Firing at Jersey City Police Vehicles; Gunman Taken to Hospital
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Authorities say a tense and dangerous situation unfolded on Friday afternoon when a man allegedly opened fire on two Jersey City Police Department vehicles, striking both with multiple rounds before being confronted by officers.
The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m., according to city officials. Witnesses in the area reported hearing a series of rapid gunshots, followed by a swift and heavy police presence.
Officials say the individual targeted two marked patrol vehicles, discharging multiple rounds that struck both cars. Thankfully, none of the four officers inside were injured. Civilians in the area also escaped without harm.
