Police Identify Victim in Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Near Lake Frierson State Park
Authorities have released the identity of the victim in a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday evening near Lake Frierson State Park.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, the victim has been identified as Jennie A. Horton, 36, of Trumann. Horton was fatally injured when the vehicle she was driving, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, left the roadway and overturned multiple times after colliding with a tree.
The crash took place on Highway 141, just south of Lake Frierson State Park, at approximately 6:55 p.m. on August 27. Investigators noted that Horton was traveling southbound at the time of the incident.
State Police said that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry, suggesting that neither factor contributed to the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, but Horton was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries. Her body has since been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for standard examination following fatal crashes.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine what may have caused the vehicle to veer off the highway.
Lake Frierson State Park, located north of Jonesboro, is a popular area for fishing, hiking, and outdoor recreation. Highway 141, which runs along the park, is frequently traveled by both local residents and visitors.
The Arkansas State Police regularly remind motorists to remain alert while driving, particularly on rural highways where traffic is lighter but accidents can still have devastating outcomes.
Horton’s death marks another tragic loss on Arkansas roadways in 2025, as officials continue to stress the importance of cautious driving and adherence to traffic safety laws.
