Prescott Academy Mourns the Loss of 6th-Grade Student Michael Nelson

It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our students, Michael Nelson, a 6th grader at Prescott Academy. Michael tragically passed away this past weekend, leaving our school community in deep grief.

Michael was more than just a student — he was a bright, curious learner and a kind friend to many. Teachers remember him for his eagerness to participate in class discussions, his sense of humor, and his genuine kindness toward classmates. His friends describe him as someone who could make others laugh even on the toughest days and who always looked out for those around him.

The loss of a young life is profoundly difficult, and we recognize the impact this tragedy has on our students, staff, and families. Prescott Academy is committed to supporting our school community through this time of mourning. Grief counselors and support staff will be available throughout the week to meet with students and families who may need extra care.

As we grieve together, we also remember Michael for the joy he brought to our halls and classrooms. His energy, compassion, and bright smile touched many lives, and his memory will remain a part of our school forever.

The Nelson family has asked for privacy as they navigate this painful time. We encourage our community to respect their wishes while keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. Details regarding memorial services will be shared with families once they are available.

In the coming days, we will find ways as a school to honor Michael’s life and support one another as we heal. We know that his loss will be felt deeply, but together, we can draw strength from our shared memories and from the caring community we have built.

Michael will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
