Springfield, Mo. – Fatal Crash Claims Life of 62-Year-Old Texas Woman
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Police Department (SPD) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Kathryn Kelly, 62, of Richardson, Texas, late Tuesday night.
Authorities say the crash occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. near the intersection of Grand Street and Laurel Avenue. Kelly was traveling westbound on Grand Street in a 2024 Kia Soul when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle veered off the roadway. The car struck a utility pole on the north side of the intersection, causing severe damage.
Emergency personnel responded quickly, but despite their efforts, Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle. SPD confirmed that her family has been notified of the tragic loss.
This incident marks the 15th fatal motor vehicle crash in Springfield in 2025, contributing to a total of 16 roadway deaths so far this year.
