Springfield Police Investigating Double Homicide-Suicide Following House Fire
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Police Department is investigating a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two victims and the suspect in what authorities have described as a double homicide-suicide.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 1:37 p.m., the Springfield Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3307 W. Lombard. Upon entering the residence, firefighters located two adults and one juvenile with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The Springfield Police Department responded immediately and took over the investigation.
Through their initial findings, detectives with the Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit determined that Ryan Parnell, 40, was responsible for fatally shooting Jessica Parnell, 35, and Aaliyah Perkins, 13, before setting fire to the residence. Ryan Parnell then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
All three individuals—Ryan Parnell, Jessica Parnell, and Aaliyah Perkins—were residents of Springfield. Family members have been notified.
This devastating case marks Springfield’s seventh and eighth homicide victims of 2025, underscoring the tragic toll that acts of domestic violence continue to have on the community. Authorities are urging residents to seek help if they or someone they know is in a dangerous or potentially violent situation, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and community support resources.
